# Sign in

> Open the VOS app and sign in with your account.

You need an account before you can use the authenticated parts of VOS. Public tryout signup and public tournament pages do not require sign-in.

    Go to [app.volleyballoperatingsystem.com](https://app.volleyballoperatingsystem.com/).

    If you are not already signed in, the app sends you to the hosted login page at `auth.volleyballoperatingsystem.com`.

  <Step title="Complete login">
    Enter the email and password for your VOS account. After login, Cognito returns you to the app.

  <Step title="Confirm your role">
    The sidebar shows your name and the role you are acting as. If you have more than one role, switch it before you start work. See [Roles](/get-started/roles).

  Public tryout links (`/y/...`) and public tournament pages (`/t/...`) stay readable without an account. Use **Have an account?** on a public tournament page if you want to sign in and return to that tournament.
